Renewable Energy Use Increasing Internationally

Saturday September 24, 2005
A few recent announcements indicate the growth of renewable energy and its increasingly important contribution to the world's energy supply:

By 2009, international energy giant ENDESA plans to generate 38.5 percent of its power supply through renewable energy.

Spain has a plan in place to make renewables the primary source for 12 percent of its total energy use by 2010.

And Vilas Muttemwar, the Indian Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources, predicts that by 2021 at least 25,000 Indian villages will be powered by renewable energy.
