gristlogo2.gif While environmentalism is sometimes considered the pet cause of white, affluent (or at least middle-class) Americans, it is the poor who are most affected by environmental problems. Grist, the online environmental magazine that takes a lighthearted approach to heavy issues--its slogan is "gloom and doom with a sense of humor"--strikes a more serious tone with this seven-week series that focuses on the "central paradox of U.S. environmentalism."
