Oprah Urges Viewers to See An Inconvenient Truth
Monday October 23, 2006
Every time Oprah mentions a book on her show, a million copies fly off the shelves. If the same goes for movies, a lot more people are likely to see Al Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, in the next few weeks. Oprah plugged An Inconvenient Truth on her show today, during an interview with an Eskimo woman who reported that global warming had raised sea levels so much that the people in Kivalina, Alaska, a village above the Arctic Circle, would soon have to relocate their entire community because the ocean waves are pounding at their doors.

The Oprah show wasn't about global warming or environmental issues. The show was about mothers around the world, and the Eskimo woman is a mother of two who, with her police officer husband, is bringing up her daughters in a place where the winter temperatures can go as low as 100 degrees below zero and the sun sometimes tops the horizon for as little as 45 minutes a day. The show also profiled mothers from China, Brazil, Dafur, and elsewhere.
Oprah asked her guest whether people that far north were starting to see the effects of global warming, and after the woman explained the situation in Kivalina Oprah urged her viewers to see An Inconvenient Truth, available on DVD November 21, which details the future effects of rising sea levels if global warming continues unabated.

Yes global warming is a major issue in today’s society, it should be made aware to everyone. It is not a topic which should be left in the dark for long, it’s happening right now and it needs attention. This DVD should help people become more Knowledgeable on this topic.
I think global warming is bad very bad and needs attention especially becuase of the pengiuns in antarctica.
I didn’t see the Oprah show but it’s good to hear she is doing something to inform about the risks of global warming as most scientists believe we are facing huge problems world wide due to global warming. But even if you want to discount science and scientists and Al Gore there is still the problems of being dependent on foreign oil to consider. So if you are concerned about either of these issues (and you should be) there is something easy and inexpensive you and everyone should do, purchase Renewable Energy Credits (for as little as $12). This is a way to subsidize renewable energy and offset carbon dioxide produced by fossil fuels. Go to http://www.nativeenergy.com .Al Gore offset the carbon dioxide created from production of his book and movie with Native Energy, a company majority owned my Native American Tribes in North and South Dakota that is building wind turbines. These very financially poor tribes are really doing something to help our whole nation. We can help too!
