Since paying electronically ultimately saves the company money, then why don’t they pass the savings on to the consumer?

I think consumers would be much more interested in, and quicker to adopt, electronic billing and payment if they were given some sort of a discount/incentive on their bill. Its a win-win situation for everyone, including the environment!

Not disagreeing that paperless bill paying saves money, but Forests are not dwindling because trees are cut to make paper (and all of the other 4,999 products we use that are made from trees). That is a false arguement. Trees cut to make these products are replaced either by nature or by man. Forests are dwindling because forestland is converted to another use, such as subdivisions, farmland, highways, shopping malls.

Paying bills online definitely saves the environment. Think about how much paper the electric, telephone, water, and utility companies use each and every month.
