Tuesday August 14, 2007
"Eat local" has become one of the mantras of the new environmental movement, but why is eating locally grown food so important, and what does it have to do with the environment, anyway? Eating locally grown food is more than good health, or even good economics. Learn how buying and eating locally grown food can enhance your life, your community, and the natural environment.

Eating and buying locally grown foods save the enviroment several ways.
I just left my local Wal-mart and the pears were grown in chile. So they came over on a boat. Then a semi truck picks them up at a dock then travels across the U.S. to a local distribution center. Where a local semi truck picks the pears up takes them to my local Wal-mart and I drive and buy them.
With local produced food it didnt have to travel half way across the world to get to me thus keeping vehicle emissions down. Also my money that purchased the locally grown produce stays in the local economy and helps a local farmer directly.

We better prefer to use vegetables and also use these in such a way so as 2 reduce the amount of organic waste, by reducing the peeling.

Great post on buying locally. Many grocery stores are now providing consumers with more locally grown produce, its great to see everyone joining in to save the environment.
