(1) Dr Mukul Mukherjee says:

In India almost all the regions which are defined by languages have their own celebration of earth day. It is also their New Year and whatever crop (each region grows a variety of grains)is harvested they celebrate by making delicious dishes from these grains and it is great festivity and greetings. In Punjab it is termed as LODHI, in Maharashtra it is GUDI PADWA, In Bengal it is POILA BASHAK, in South it is VESHU so India celebrates earth day region wise.
