McCain Chooses Palin as Running Mate
Saturday August 30, 2008
On Friday, August 29, John McCain turned 72. To celebrate, he named first-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate. Will Palin turn out to be McCain’s best-ever birthday wish, or end up being more than he bargained for?
Palin’s record on energy and environmental issues offers a mixed bag of mostly hard-line conservative views with only a few glimmers of enlightened environmental policy.

I was going to vote McCain, but since learning about Gov Palin, MY VOTE is for Obama. I will NOT SUPPORT this ignorant choice of a VP when she goes against what I believe is good for the environment. He has truely sunk to his lowest level and hopefully this will change many more minds. I thought McCain was going to be true to our environment, but he has betrayed it.
Signed, a female who is a registered Demo, but always votes for the person and their beliefs, not always for the party I am registered as.
I am absolutely devastated at McCain’s choice of running mate. This woman would be so destructive to the fragile growing awareness of the serious problems facing the planet today. How could he pick someone like this?? She stands for everything that we should all be striving to eliminate. Personally, my first thought was that he’s trying to grab the female vote, as if any of us was injured by the fact that Hilary was defeated, simply beacuse she was a female. I seriouly think that was a serious consideration in his decision. But why HER??? Aerial wolf killings? Cubs murdered in their dens? Polar bears shouldn’t be listed as endangered? Yea, she’s got a REAL big heart…
What saddens me is not so much that McCain chose Palin as his running mate, but that more people aren’t outraged at her personal and professional record of cruelty to animals. We may be democrats or republicans, but we are first and foremost human beings. I hope there comes a day when we will all stand up against cruelty to animals regardless of our political convictions.
I’m another voter going to Obama specifically because of this choice. Palin is not only the wacky Bushesque conservative, she is charismatic- too dangerous for office.
Jonesey…I’m with you all the way! My thoughts exactly!
The choice of Palin is insulting to all women everywhere.
