A token for Spokin'
- The planet and honesty will love y'all mucho much if you two-wheel it and put some real grit in your life. Really, all products are by their nature addictions (hey, I even think it's a colonization of our minds, but that's another story.) The bike actually is in line w/the car as a product, nevertheless, you remain connected to IT ALL and that's a whole lot better than any scriptural authority (no offense intended, really). We have brains...cars are a complete lack of 'em. Evidence: any fool gets to drive, but it takes brains to ride (grace and luck is good, too). Sincerely, a hopeful rider.

green living
- Yes! Bank online, keep records online, too, and then have your computer crash! Lost the lot! So I do both I am afraid - do my banking on line, AND keep a paper record for long enough, and then recycle the paper I used. Can't win, can we?

Save on water bottles
- The boss was convinced to order a water cooler. No more bottles at work. At home, I use a mini Brita...I walk to the library and to buy lottery tix instead of driving on the way home from work (2 miles). I get exercise and car gets a rest.

OK, BUT I have ALWAYS lived this way
- I am concerned about all these requests to save tiny bits of energy. What about businesses in the US. All their lighting and displays make my usage look miniscule. What are they doing to help? I have always been frugal, recycled, compared prices, clipped coupons, shopped what is on sale, saved whenever I could, cooked for the family, passed down used clothes, ran the dishwasher full, washed small amounts of dishes by hand, cooked in the cool of the evening, avoided wasting water, kept the temp low in winter and high in summer, we've been doing staycations all our lives. I don't think people in homes is the problem. Has anyone looked to see who is really doing the resource wasting? I don't think it is the people who read articles like this one.

I'm getting there!
- Carpooling to work is 'in progress' right now but I'm definitely doing it after I return from maternity leave. We use reusable bags and if we forgot them, we use paper and put our recycled trash in them. We've switched to vegetarian in the home and eat meat less than once a month. We have almost all energy saving bulbs and we're teaching our daughter to recycle and conserve...next step for us? Composting!
