How have you adopted green living to help save the Earth, conserve resources, reduce carbon and protect people and animals? Share your ideas for green living.

Am trying

I am trying. I use a rechargeable power supply instead of using a generator, which gives the environment smoky air instead of the fresh and green air that is eco and human friendly. Let others know.

Save earth using green phones

Save our planet using green phones like the one I am using.

my presumably green ideas

Thanks for the suggestions to protect mother earth. I also use salt as a body wash instead of chemical-based body-care products, and also mineral water as hair tonic or as a skin-care product. Put the organic waste in the barbecue and then use the ash as fertalizer.

I protest the administration's bad decis

I protest the US government giving Brazil, one of the world's worst destroyers of the environment, several billion for offshore drilling. Are they not the same people that have been destroying their own rain forest?

Um, Right...

This article is ridiculous. Yes, many of these things that you mention are great but… Come on! People will always eat meat. I have even heard the rumor that cow poop is causing global warming. You have overlooked one very important thing here. No one has actually proven global warming exists. So… before you start making accusations about what you can do to stop global warming, you need to check your facts. You speak about saving water and recycling, but you fail to realize that there are many more people on this earth and that will continue to expand. Excuse me for doubting you but come on… You can’t expect everyone to recycle. People are going to live how they want to live. Your suggestions, although right, are not going to change anything. Our saving grace is going to be able to colonize other planets. I’m mean, really, you are not going to stop nature. The Human race is consumers, period!

Home owner

We only collect rain water for our entire houshold needs. In the bath tub, we keep a plastic bucket to collect water from the shower before it gets warm enough for a shower. That collected water is then used several times to fill the tank on our toilet which has a gallon and a half flush. In the summer, the water is used to water plants.

lol failures

First of all, Contrary to media reports Antarctic sea ice continues to expand. Ice totals for March 2010 are significantly higher than 1980. Second Al gore a major supporter just bought a new Italian-style home has an ocean view, multiple fountains, six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Apparently it has no solar panels, no solar water heating, and no windmills. The day you were a fig leaf and coconuts on your chest then you can come to me and say your helping out other than that quit saying your helping. The American people ranked global warming dead last on its list of concerns, even below "Trade Policy" and "Moral Decline". Al Gore recently said on CNN that its pretty silly for everyone to be getting all worked up over 10 year old email messages. He obviously doesn't know much about ClimateGate as these damning emails run all the way up to November 2009! Since he obviously isn't being briefed very well. Global Warming is a hoax..

I AM LIVING A GREEN LIFE OFCOURSE!

I think these are the best ideas to reduce the environmental problems, but awareness about environmental conservation must be common. People must be aware of emerging environmental problems related to their daily activities.

ENSURE YOUR IMMEDIATE COMPOUND IS GREEN

Its important: i've develop not more than 40% of my plot of land with a building while the remaining is planned and planted with economic trees, grasses and other flowering plants to give me enough green and fresh air and good scenery for habitation.

Cob Bee Blocks

I make blocks of cob and stems. Cob is sand clay straw and water mixed to a putty. I build a block of the cob and stems from hollow and pithy plants and make holes in the cob too so the bees have lots of choice about the size and type of hole to nest in. I started this summer and it has worked well. http://www.instructables.com/id/Save-the-bees-from-extinction-You-CAN-do-it/

Energy saving lightbulbs without mercury

I use LED lightbulbs at home - they are better than CFLs cos they don't contain mercury and don't take forever to light up fully.

LCD lightbulbs

You CAN recycle these lightbulbs! I have two recycling centers in my small town. Go to the website Earth911 and tell them what you want to recycle and your zipcode and they'll tell you who recycles it. Too easy, huh?

Grass Roots Activism

I live green. I don't really notice big companies doing it. I work with local youth groups, churches, etc. and teach them what they can do to help. For example, styrofoam. I hate take-out styrofoam containers. The restaurant isn't going to change because it's cheap. The consumer must tell the restaurant they don't want styrofoam. It takes education. I also have a pdf file with little coupons that can be left with your tip saying that you support green industries and encourage them to go to the cardboard take out containers (works just as well and you can microwave in them-you shouldn't microwave styrofoam because it's toxic). Work with your schools to set up cell phone recycling sites. Teach about composting. Talk about how long it takes things to decompose in a landfill. Buy presents that are "green"- like soy based crayons, a cloth baby diaper with the disposable liners, etc). Teach people the truth about where their trash goes and the consequences of it. Give them a reason/benefit.

Save planet Earth

Plant trees after you cut it down and pick up rubbish so animals won't die.

I don't use plastic bottles

Plastic bottles need a lot of water to be manufactured, and even it they are recycled, they need more water to do so. I use stainless steel bottles, that are reusable.
