From the article: Paper, Plastic, or Something Better?
More and more people are carrying reusable bags when they shop, and many retailers encourage or even reward the practice. How about you? Do you still make a choice between paper and plastic at the check-out stand, or do you prefer to say "neither" and pull out your own bags?
Definitely reusable bags!
- I use kerribags and they are great; after I unload them in my kitchen I fold them and put them next to the door. When I go out, I put them back into my car and now I never forget to take my bags to the grocery store. Kerribags are also so easy to wipe clean, I have no fear of cross contamination.

I love reusable bags!
- I use them because they're good for the earth and you can find really cute ones. Way better than normal store plastic bags. I have reusable bags from Elvis Presley to Barbie.

sugesstions please
- I use both, it is hard to get the men to use cloth bags, but for the person loking for an alternative for cat litter, there are green biodegradable bags that people use for food waste. another note, plastic grocery bags sometimes have holes in them at the bottom.

BYOB- Bring Your own Bags!
- Don't use paper or plastic they both harm the plant!

neither
- Not only do I not use plastic or paper, but some grocery chains offer a $.05 refund for using my own bag. Warning: I heard from the media that some reusable bags made in China contain high levels of lead.

Plastic is outlawed
- In South Australia plastic shopping bags have been outlawed, so we have to bring re-useable bags with u (or purchase new re-useable bags at the POS). My partner and I invested in some really lovely (slightly pricy) burlap shopping bags. For us, shopping is more like a day out--we visit the local Farmer's Market and drive home through the countryside--gathering the attractive bags together is part of the tradition of the day. :)

Reusable bags
- I like the bags and do not worry about excessive bacteria as some do since we can hardly get away from bacteria. They can be washed. But, I find myself just forgetting to take them in the store. We are creatures of habit and it's hard to form new habits.

Plastic, Paper or Reusable Bags
- I have my own reusable bags but often use a few paper ones as they are great for trash and recylables under my sink as an alternative to plastic bags or containers. My sister uses (and reuses) cardboard boxes for grocery shopping. They hold more and are easier to carry with the additional weight than any kind of bag. Where she lives they don't have a recycling program but I'm proud of her innovative thinking in coming up with her own Earth-friendly alternative.

Suggestions please!
- I confess I still get plastic bags even though I have wanted to use reusable ones for a long time. The reason is that I use the plastic bags for scooping the cat boxes. I do not live in the country so scooping out in nature is not an option. Does anyone have a suggestion that would allow me to stop using the plastic bags? Thanks.

Reusable bags is the way to go!
- Reusable shopping bags is a good solution when compared to tons of single-use plastic bags that end up in landfills every day. A good quality reusable shopping bag can save around 200-300 plastic bags a year and can serve you for a good 2-3 years! That's a lot of plastic bags! Every customer should carefully choose the reusable bag, though, paying much attention to its quality, manufacturer, material and, of course, price. Some really good reusable shopping bags are: Envirosax, Baggu, Flip & Tumble, b.b.begonia, Rume. All these bags described are made either form polyester or nylon, and of superior quality. They are also very stylish, which makes your shopping experience very special )) Being not only eco-friendly but also cool - makes "going green" a fun adventure!

a plethora of plastic
- This is entirely true. It's a well known fact that plastic bags aren’t biodegradable. Because of photodegradation, this brings worries to tons of people and especially animal rights activists. Also, with how much oil is used in plastic bags, I have ran into multiple people who begin to rant about the war and how saving a plastic bag saves a soldiers life. These people all stand for strong and valid reasons, and though I stand for my own, I have to say, what's so difficult about bringing your own bag? Besides, no one likes the millions of left over plastic bags over taking their pantries.

garbage bags
- I need garbage bags for 3 bathrooms & 3 bedrooms for women who come to live here for varying amounts of time. I re-use the bags I get at stores. Also, I believe the reusable bags are not recyclable once they are used up & that is a problem not addressed.

Reusable bags
- I carry reusable grocery bags with me everywhere, to the mall, to the store, or just carry one around with me when I'm out to pick up litter on the street to be thrown away or recycled at home. I use the corn bags for garbage bags as well. The only thing I don't like about them is that the ones I've found don't have a draw string or anything to tighten them up, so they have to be tied. I have to have help with this, as I have some coordination issues. Other than that, I love them.

Plastic what?
- My parents used reusable bags when I was a kid in the 70's and I've known nothing else. I can't stand seeing people loading up their carts with plastic bags. For every 10 of theirs, I have one, big, sturdy eco-friendly bag. I think the US should ban or tax plastic and paper bags. It's not hard to carry reusable bags. I have small ones that fit in my purse (they are the size of a compact), I always keep bigger one's in my car for impromptu shopping trips and when I go to the grocery store or big box stores, I make sure to bring them from home. I am never without a bag. This little bit makes a HUGE difference. We need to overcome our ignorance and start making little changes like this. PS: Love closetcrafty's idea. I'm a graphic designer too and love looking for planet friendly design ideas.
